What we have seen in Frederick over the past several days is deeply concerning. No family should be afraid to leave their home or feel unsafe in their own neighborhood. The safety and well-being of our residents must come first. My office has been closely monitoring the situation, and I have been in direct contact with local elected officials and community leaders to hear about what occurred and the concerns residents have raised. I have also been in communication with Frederick’s mayor and public safety officials to discuss the situation and determine what additional steps are needed. I am especially disturbed by reports that ICE agents used force against Frederick residents. These allegations demand immediate answers and a full, transparent investigation. Federal law enforcement has a responsibility to carry out its duties lawfully and safely—and the Frederick community deserves transparency and answers. I will continue working proactively with local leaders, law enforcement, and community organizations to get those answers and ensure the safety of Frederick residents remains our top priority. Constituents seeking assistance can contact my district office at (301) 926-0300 or through mcclaindelaney.house.gov. Residents can review my Know Your Rights guide for information on their constitutional rights when interacting with ICE and available legal resources.

Trump and Republicans broke their promise to lower health care costs. Now, Trump is trying to bribe the American people with their own money. A $500 check weeks before an election won’t erase higher premiums, lost coverage, or expensive medications.
Trump claims he is sending 1M $500 refund checks to people who were enrolled in Obamacare because they were overcharged. However, those people only live in red states or states where elections are close. Sounds like an effort to influence the election and an impeachable bribe.

Heart-wrenching and UN-American! The utter lack of any empathy or respect for human life - particularly children’s lives - is reflective of the dark degradation of Trump’s Administration and its increasing focus on stoking terror, undermining due process and ruthlessly and unlawfully seizing governing powers. What dark motives would perpetrate the dragging of children as young as 3 into immigration court - without counsel or appropriate representation. As a mom of four, I find this to be evil personified and will fight for complete accountability for these transgressions. Shameful beyond belief! @SecMullinDHS @DHSgov @ICEgov @DOJ_EOIR
NEW: In a Texas courtroom Monday, 25 migrant children lined the pews — a 9yo rested her head on the table, a 6yo pretended to fly an airplane, and a 3yo played with the mic. Many in attendance didn't have an attorney — and a 13yo was ordered removed. A look inside, thru sketches.

Biotechnology is not some distant future. It is here, and the countries that set the standards will lead it. At @axios Live, I joined @caitlinnowens to discuss why AI needs trusted biological data and how my bipartisan SCALE Biology Act can move breakthroughs from the lab to patients. I also toured an exhibit celebrating 50 years of Genentech innovation and the breakthroughs that have transformed patients’ lives. Photo credits: Bryan Dozier for Axios

This war should’ve never happened to begin with. Now, seven months later, gas prices are soaring and even Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito is telling Trump to end it. How much more do Maryland families have to pay for his war? thehill.com/homenews/senate/…

I've said it before: the FCC doesn't get to decide which jokes, anchors, or newsrooms stay on the air. Now 18 former FCC officials from both parties are saying it in federal court.
Coalition of former FCC officials submit a court filing that blisters chairman Brendan Carr and the agency's probe of ABC TV Group says they "have watched with growing alarm as the agency they once stewarded has unleashed a wide-ranging campaign of threats and retaliation to bring an independent press to heel. From local AM radio stations to multi-billion-dollar media conglomerates, daytime talk shows to late-night comedy, no speaker is safe from the FCC’s regulatory retaliation"

CNN, Politico, and MS NOW aren’t the problem. The problem is a president who can’t handle tough questions. Americans want answers. A free press holds power accountable, keeps information flowing freely, and our democracy depends on it.

No family should be afraid to leave their home. I’m working with Team Maryland to demand answers from DHS and an independent investigation into ICE’s actions in our communities. Marylanders deserve answers and accountability.

This is an outrageous attack on freedom of the press. Trump cannot ban news organizations from the White House simply because he dislikes their reporting. That is authoritarian, un-American, and an attack on the First Amendment. A free press is not optional. It is essential to our democracy.

While Rep. Norman, a Freedom Caucus member, and I don’t often see “eye to eye”, I completely agree with him about the GOP’s horrific abdication of its congressional duties by canceling votes for the rest of September. We have so much to do on AI guardrails, making America more affordable, stopping corruption, helping our farmers and small businesses, and ending this war.
Canceling yet another day of votes is unacceptable. The House has now canceled at least 63 scheduled voting days this Congress, including nine days this month alone, and now we're leaving Washington until after the election. The Founders did not envision taking this much time off and still getting paid. If Members of Congress want to go home and campaign instead of doing the job taxpayers sent us here to do, then their campaigns ought to be paying them, NOT the American taxpayer. We still have work to do.

President Trump has repeatedly blocked defense assistance to Ukraine while cozying up to Putin and his allies. I will always support holding Putin and his regime of oligarchs accountable for their illegal and unwarranted war in Ukraine. However, I cannot vote for a bill that hands President Trump broad power to levy tariffs against our major trading partners without assurances that he will enforce the sanctions. At a time when his trade wars are already driving up prices for families, giving him even greater tariff authority risks making everyday life more expensive. I voted NO because life is already unaffordable for Americans across the country. We should be strengthening our support for Ukraine and holding Putin accountable, not handing President Trump another bill to escalate tariff-driven trade wars and drive up everyday costs.”
NEWS: House passes bipartisan Russian sanctions legislation 262-159, sending it to President Donald Trump. 58 Democrats vote yes, while just seven Republicans oppose it.

Promises made. Promises broken. Republicans promised to lower costs. Instead, families are struggling to afford child care, farmers are being squeezed by tariffs, and working Americans are still having trouble making ends meet. Today, I joined my colleagues on the Capitol steps to hear directly from Americans feeling the consequences. Enough is enough. We need to lower costs and put working families first.

I voted YES yet again to end Trump’s illegal and lawless war with Iran. At this point, the Iran war has cost taxpayers $38B and counting. Trump and Republicans promised to lower costs and not have endless foreign wars. They didn’t — promises made, promises broken!  Congress must end this war, bring our troops home, and focus on helping working families make ends meet.
New: House again passes a war powers resolution rebuking President Trump over the ongoing war in Iran. A record *seven* House Republicans vote this time to rein in the president over the conflict. The Senate is expected to vote on an Iran war powers resolution this week too.

A federal judge told Trump he couldn’t slap his name on the Kennedy Center. Hours later, his handpicked board voted to shut it down. Now workers could lose paychecks, artists lose a stage, and Americans lose access to a national institution, all because of another Trump failed vanity project. The Kennedy Center belongs to the American people, not Donald Trump. cnn.com/2026/09/15/politics/…
